Join Grane Hospice Care to share ideas and best practices about keeping residents and families engaged and connected through activities. Grane Hospice will be introducing a new way for activity directors to connect with one another and share creative and fun ideas. We will be joined by some guest presenters from our long-term care communities.

The Potential Threat of COVID-19 Resurgence – November 10th at 1:30PM (90 min.)

This virtual education module will discuss the latest updates of COVID-19 in Pennsylvania and review trends from the past few months. We will also discuss the importance of the safety measures implemented to help mitigate exposure to the virus for staff and the long-term care facility population, as well as the impact of isolation from the outside world.

Prioritizing Mental Health in Long-Term Care Communities – November 19th at 1:30PM (90 min.)

This virtual education module will share the QPR (Question, Persuade, and Refer) Gatekeeper Training for Suicide Prevention designed to teach lay and professional “gatekeepers” of the warning signs of suicide crisis and tips on how to respond. We will also discuss the impacts of COVID-19 on mental health in the long-term setting for both residents and staff.

Hospice Services – Partners in Care – December 10th at 1:30PM (120 min.)

This virtual education module will examine the hospice benefit and how to maximize use of hospice services for patients and families in both long-term care communities and in-home settings. Hospice criteria and coverage will discussed, as well as the stigma associated with this benefit and common concerns. This education will also discuss the differences in levels of hospice care and the examination of end-of-life medications and comfort.
